Shared calendars in Entourage 2004

Apologies for X-posting but this group seems to be getting more traffic
that ms.p.o.m.e Why did they change groups?!

I'm having trouble getting my IT colleagues to set up a shared calendar
in Entourage 2004. I appreciate that previous version of Entourage did
not work as Exchange clients (I think I've got that terminology right?)
but has there been any advance with 2004?

My techie friends tell me:

"The problem resides with entourage. It has trouble displaying public
folders. It can display email messages which are in a public folder,
but not Contacts, Calendars and Events. Also entourage does not allow
you to create, move or delete public folders. In exchange this is how
we provide shared calendars, it is useful as public folders are
available over web mail where as delegation is not. It seems the
current version of entourage has no method of displaying all public
folders

"Shared calendar: a shared calendar is a public resource under exchange.
You can apply security to it so only those specified have access.
Having a public calendar means there is no reason to use a member of
staff's personal calendar and share it. This way everyone can access a
"departmental calendar" if they are in the office or not."

Is there any way round this, or is there any way of integrating iCal
with an Exchange server? TIA for any advice.

The Entourage group moved so that all Mac applications except Windows Media
Player (in other words, those managed by the Macintosh Business Unit) have
support newsgroups in microsoft.public.mac.*.

Sorry, Entourage can't access calendar and contact public folders. However,
Microsoft recently announced that an update due in the second half of 2005
will include an "improved public folder experience".
