Sharing inforamtion without Exchange

The addin was called NetFolders and it never worked reliably and the world is
a better place without it. If you are using POP3 email from your ISP, then
you are still able to send meeting requests to each other. Only one person
can have a .pst file open at a time--you can share it in that context only.
You can export and send contacts around to each other if that would help.

I read a while ago something about shared folders with Office 2000.
I remember that MS removed it from new versions of Office but that you could
have a shared PST file or something similar to share information within the
Workgroup without requiring Exchange.
I found some products over the net but I since I use Office 2000 I prefer
the MS option.
Does anyone know about this and can send me some links with information?
Thank you

Thanks.
That was fast!
This is precisely what I am looking for.
The guy has 3 computers and wants to share an address book and some mail.
