Shift + Tab quit working

N

Using WinXP Home SP2 and Word 2003. I was working on a document an
inadvertently clicked on something and now Shift+Tab does not work. Ta
and Shift+Tab both move the cursor to the right i.e. forward.
The same happens when I tried it in Notepad and Wordpad.
From Word tried Tools>Auto Correct>Autoformat As You Type: "Set firs
and left indent with tabs and backspaces" but nothing worked.
How can I get it to work so Shift + Tab moves the cursor backwards?
Thank

Where are you trying to use Shift+Tab? Shift+Tab doesn't function like a
Backspace or Margin Release key. It works in outline-numbered lists (to
promote the paragraph to a higher outline level) and in tables (to go back
to the previous cell) but in ordinary text it just inserts a tab character.
