Signature appear before reply message

In 2004 when I replied to a message and chose a signature from drop down it
used to add it after my reply.

Now it puts it at the bottom of the entire reply.

Is this a new (bad) feature or can I edit the reply string in prefs for my
needs.

No new changes in reply behavior. You probably need to reset your
preferences.
