Size mail folder

Could anybody tell me if there is a maximum to the size of the mail folder?

Somebody told me that there is and as a result he could not access his mail
any more, but I cannot find any reference to it anywhere

Technically speaking, there is no "real" size limit to mail folders, though
Entourage tends to act quite sluggishly if you keep more than several
thousand emails in one particular folder; the best practice is to store them
in several smaller folders. However, in Office v.X, there is a size limit to
the Entourage *database*, which covers not just all the emails, but also
contacts, calendar items and so on. It used to be 2 GB, but the 10.1.2
updater changed it to 4 GB. Also, the user is given a warning when the
database is dangerously close to that size limit. You can read some more
