Sizing cells differently in the same row?

How do I change lines 3-5 in Column A into 1 cell while
keeping the lines 3-5 in Cell C & D? (I would like to do
the same thing in Cell B, lines 3-5)

The paper I'm trying to do is setup this way.

Column A: row 3-5 is 1 cell. (Cell A3)
Column B: row 3-5 is 1 Cell. (Cell A3)
Column C: Cell A3 has lines 3,4 & 5.

Please help!!!!

the only thing to do this would be to merge these cells 'Format -
cells - alignment'

BUT: I would try NOT to use merged cells as they will cause problems
while sorting, filtering, etc.
