slide background questions

Hello everyone,
I am writing a PowerPoint to XML converter.
1. How do I know if the ppt document contains more than one template design?
2. How do I determine for the background dialog if user set a color scheme,
set the background fill as "Automatic" or not, assuming that there is a
design template already applied to the slide? :(

One more question: what FillFormat returns as BackColor when a shape ( a
PlaceHolder for example ) has "no fill" and "no line" attributes ?
