Hello,
My original problem was that certain slides were not
switching at the programed transition times unless I
double clicked the slide while in progress. This only
happened when a new music clip was introduced. I was
given the following solution. This solution worked to
advance the slides as the correct transition time.
However, now, it will not allow me to start the music
clip at the given time. (For example. I want to start
playing a song 2:01 into the actual track.) So after un-
checking the "new animation effects" I go to the custom
animation and set the "start Playing" effect "from time:"
2:01. But then, the same problem arises where the slides
don't change unless I double click. Then I go through
the process again. When the check the "new animation
effects", the 2:01 is in the "start animation" section.
So I think it is interpreting the 2:01 as when the switch
the slide.(?) Is there a way where I can the best of both
worlds? (using PowerPoint 2002) Help! Thanks!

Hello,
This is a known issue. The workaround is to apply
the "Continue slide show" setting to inserted sound
objects using the legacy
Custom Animation dialog (not the Custom Animation pane).
To get to the Custom Animation dialog you must first
disable the new animation features in PowerPoint 2002 and
2003:
1) Tools -> Options
2) Switch to "Edit" tab
3) Check the "New animation effects" under the "Disable
new features" group and
4) Click OK
To apply the "Continue slide show" setting, repeat the
following for each
sound object that you want to behave this way:
1) Select sound object
2) Slide Show -> Custom Animation
3) Switch to "Multimedia setting" tabl of the dialog,
4) Check the "Continue slide show" option and
5) Click OK
Once you are done, you can re-enable the advance
animation features:
1) Tools -> Options
2) Switch to "Edit" tab
3) UN-Check the "New animation effects" under
the "Disable new features" group and
4) Click OK
