Slide Transitions Lagging in a Self-Running Presentation w/Narrati

I have created a self-running PPT 2000 presentation with narrations on each
slide and automatic timings applied through the Rehearse Timings command. My
issue is that certain slides are not transitioning at the automatic timing
rate. They are lagging several seconds longer than should be according to
the automatic times I see set in the Slide Transition window. I have tried
adjusting these timings manually to make the transitions happen as desired,
but that does not appear to make a difference. Does anyone know a fix for
this?
