Hi Maarten,

For Office 2007 MS is basically going with chaining of the patches during setup rather than patching of the basic CD image as the
preferred method if you're not imaging a hard drive.

The contents of the Office Network Installation Point (which can be the contents of one or more Office product CDs) and
customization patches are sent to the Local Installation Source (LIS) [\MSOCache] on the PC and then setup is run from the LIS.

Easier than before. Copy the entire contents of your Office Disk to
your hard drive. Download the updates from the MS site (which is the
hardest part I think) and copy them into the Updates folder of the
files you just copied over. Burn CD (or copy to Network Location for
net install) and you are done.
