Slow File Auto-Saves

G

Greg Burns

Hi All,

I'm using MSP2002 and have autosave set for every 10 minutes (has saved my
butt more than once). I like the autosave feature, but I hate that every 10
minutes my system becomes unusable while it does the autosave routine. My
typical file size is 75-100 megabytes, which is large I know, but I'm
running a fairly quick system (2.6gig processor, half a gig of ram) and
usually have pretty snappy performance.

Any hints on how to help this pokey operation along, other than shutting off
auto-save?

Thanks,

Greg

How about splitting it into multiple publications? 100mb will take a little
bit to save on any system at a regular interval. Also make sure your temp
files are deleted as well.

You could also use image place holders while you work instead of actual
images to reduce your files sizes while you work.
