Slow file search in Office Apps on Win XP

I'm running office 2k on Windows XP (Home Ed). I have all
the latest patches for both OS & Office installed. When I
open any of the Applications (incl. Outlook) and click to
open a file the file browser comes up but when I try to
navigate through to a different directory it takes 60-90
seconds to respond. Once it responds it is fine browsing
through the tree, until I close the file browser pop-up,
then it happens next time it is triggered. Windows
Explorer itself runs just fine, no delay.

Any suggestions?
