Slow running entourage

S

Sam Rich

Entourage seems to be running slower and slower on my computer. Often when
I'm typing, I have to wait for Entourage to keep up. Recently flicking from
the mail window to contacts or the calendar window has been particularly
slow.

I have recently installed the OS updates and the Microsoft updates and
backed up my database, but now Entourage is running slower than ever.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

I'm using an ibook G3 800, running Mac OS 10.4.8 with latest version of
Entourage 2004 11.2.5

Thanks

Sam

Drag your main identity folder and/or Microsoft User Data folder to
Spotlight privacy window.

The actual indexing is done from the files in
~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage, so the private/indexable
status of the MUD folder isn't relevant.

Try turning off Spotlight completely and see if that helps.

Check for applications like Grammarian, TypeIt4Me, FaxSTF. They have been
reported to slow speed.

FWIW, I haven't noticed any slowdowns, but there have been numerous problems
reported for Office application with this last security update. YMMV

Try repairing permissions and/or compacting your data.
