Slow Server Connection

Using Entourage 2004, I'm having problems with server connection slowing
down if I want to move a message to a different folder on the IMAP
server (local network).

The progress window tells me it's "Searching Folder on Server" which can
take more than a minute or so, during which time Entourage does nothing
else. Is there any setting I could use to speed up the process?

Not really... You could try using the IP address of the server instead
of it's name to avoid having to query the DNS server. I've seen some
slowdowns induced by slow and buggy DNS. It's pretty rare though. I'm
not sure it'll help at all.

Thanks - the server is addressed with its IP address already.

Looking at the PC we use as server, there are times when the orange
"hard disk activity lamp" is lit constantly, rather than just
flickering, so something seems to be going wrong there and the CPU seems
to get maxed out although I can't seem to identify what it's doing when
these slow downs are happening. Oh well, looks like a Windows
re-install..
