I have a Word 2000 doc that consists of 8 labels and text boxes then a table
of 4 columns and 20 rows consisting of a text label in column 1 then a radio
button in columns 2, 3, and 4 on the first page. So, basically, the user
opens the doc and fills in the 8 text boxes with things such as first name,
last name, customer name, etc. Then they select a radio button in columns 2,
3 or 4 for each of the 20 rows. For example the columns are titled - Action,
Yes, No, NA and in row one the user looks at the action and selects radio
button column 2 if Yes, radio button column 3 if no, and radio button in
column 4 if NA. Pretty basic and it works fine.
Page two of the consists of a table with 2 columns and 7 rows. Column one is
the Action column where we simply ask them to type out a sentence or two
type response to each action in a text box in column 2. This too seems
pretty basic and functions fine.
My question is, I have a PIV dual core 3.0Ghz PC with 3G of RAM and when I
open this Word form my hard drive spins like mad for 25 seconds before the
form opens. It seems like too basic of a form for this to be the case. Its
even poor performing on lesser machines and its that way on 10-15 machines
that have used it.
There doesn't seem to be anything to this doc - a couple of table, a handful
of text boxes, and a bunch of radio buttons. THe design of the doc is
password protected and there is a macro that exits design mode upon user
load - other than that, there is not custom VBA programming going on.
Can offer any tips on optimizing or pinpointing why such poor performance?
