SMS messaging from Entourage

Is there a way to send a SMS message from Entourage to a cell phone via
bluetooth? I know that there is the Calligator option but that requires you
to log onto their server etc.

Hi Simon!

Entourage is not Bluetooth enabled and furthermore Bluetooth's range is
limited to roughly 30 feet.

SMS is a specific text messaging protocol for use over private networks
(most commonly over mobile phone provider networks). To send text
messages from Entourage you'd need to send an email message.

Most mobile providers offer as part of their basic service the ability
to send to a mobile phone using an email address specific to that phone.
For T-Mobile customers you can email a message to their phone using an
email address in the form of [email protected].

Check the supports pages of the mobile phone providers your recipients
are using for the address formats specific to them.

I use the Treo 650 as my PDA/cellphone. I sync using Bluetooth. Is there no
way to use this link to send SMS?

Hi Simon!

A Treo 650 runs Palm software and with my Palm Tungsten PDA, an SMS
client came on the installer CD. Check your CD or Palm's website for the
software.

You can use the Palm Conduit for Entourage (found in the Microsoft
Office 2004 folder) to sync your Entourage contacts to your Treo and
then use the SMS client on the Treo to send your messages.

Likewise, there a few SMS applications you can download for your Mac.
They can use Bluetooth to connect to your Treo and send an SMS message.
If you've upgraded to Tiger, someone has already developed an SMS widget
that sends through your Internet connection. (This costs 10 cents per
message, though.)

Entourage, however, is not an SMS client and doesn't have the ability to
send SMS messages.
