SMTP problem

We have a problem with Entourage X. All internal emails on
our intranet send fine. But some external emails are
bounced back. I believe this is because of some external
email servers do a reverse check of some sort.

How do we solve this?

Thanks,
Cathryn

Most SMTOP servers refuse to send mail not originating from their own
domain (unless they use some sort of authentication).

Most people can use their local SMTP to send mail for all accounts. If
you can't, you can still try to activate Posfix on your Mac:

Thank you, this sounds great!

I am confused about one thing. Postfix turns the Mac into
a mail server. Do my emails still go through our LAN and
out through the mail server? Will it work on a LAN?

Thanks again,

I'm on LAN and it works like a charm. LAN could be an issue if you hae a
firewall that block the SMTP port, in which case your mail can't be
sent. You can always activate it and send a test message to see if it
goes through...
