My wife's MacOSX 10.3? system shares my internet connection on my
Windows XP Professional Service pack 2 PC. Whenever she tries to send
email greater than about 2K she gets the following error
"An operation on the server timed out. "The server may be down
overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic." error 111. All
other activites that require an internet connection from my wife's
MacOSX system work well.
What I have done so far;
1. Connected the internet directly to my wifes MacOSX system. The SMTP
timeout does not occur with same message and SMTP setting that occured
above.
2. Turned off the firewall on my Windows XP that is sharing the
internet connection. The SMTP timeout occurs with same message and
SMTP settings that occurred above.
3. Turned off email scanning on all antivirus software. The SMTP
timeout occurs with same message and SMTP setting that occurred above.
4. I used a different email program on my wife's MacOSX. I think it is
the one that comes with MacOSX by default. The SMTP timeout occurs
with same message and SMTP setting that occurred above.
I believe this proves that the problem lies either with the router or
some setting on the Windows XP shared internet connection.
I believe that this problem may have only occurred when either I
upgraded my wife's PC to Entourage 2004 or I upgraded my Windows XP
system to service pack 2. My windows XP service pack 2 system has no
problems.
Can anyone suggest what i might do next?
How can i get more information about what is happening when i send
email messages greater than 2K. is there some logging i can turn on to
get more information?
