solid line made from dashes

How do I delete a solid bblack line made from dashes in MS Word? Why did it
make a solid line?

The reason it did is because of your settings under "Tools", "Autocorrect
Options". To get rid of it, place your cursor on the line above it, click
"Format", "Borders and shading", click "None" on the "Borders" TAB.
