Solution to blank spots in Pub 2002 printout

Joe

I had a problem with Publisher 2002 creating square-
shapped blank spots in my printouts, sometimes to the
Laserjet and more frequently to Adobe Distiller. After
multiple reinstalls of Publisher and Office XP, I noticed
that the blank spots were similarly shaped to empty
preformatted text boxes I kept in the scratch area. When I
deleted those, the blank spots went away! Version 2002
won't allow me to reset the defaults for text boxes, so
that's the work-around I had been using. I am eagerly
anticipating version 2003, which will, I hope, fix the bug.

If you drag the unused items to the bottom of your scratch area, they will not
print...

Thanks, some further experimentation revealed that only
text frames in the scratch area directly to the left of
the document corrupt the printing.

That issue in Publisher any version is unknown, and would suggest it is an
issue of your printer driver.

Shapes in the left and right bits of the scratch area will print on other
pages. It's a feature.

But then I wouldn't have a leg to stand on!
