Some imported images into a presentation turn dark almost black

After reopening a saved presentation the next day, some, but not all of the
images I have imported come up dark almost black. This happens whether they
are .tif or .jpg files.Initially I was importing .tif files, but thought that
might be the problem, so I saved them as .jpg's and reimported them with the
same outcome? They were scanned as .tif files and downloaded to a CD. In that
process they were saved on the CD as a .png file. I then saved them to my
hard drive as .tif files again
I'm going on the road next week.Any help is appreciated
