If I sort by category the names are not in alphabetical order. Is there
a way to do this??

Do you mean the names of the categories are not alphabetised, or the names
of the emails/contacts/whatever else is not alphabetised?
If it's the latter, and if you are using Office 2004 (you don't say, so how
would we know?) you can set up a 'custom arrangement' to use dividers based
on category, with thos divisions sorted alphabetically, and with items in
those division sorted alphabetically as well.
Take a look in the 'View', 'Arrange By...' menu.
