SOS - New Entourage Calendar items not showing up on exchange server.

Exchange Server 2003, Entourage 11.3.3

For some reason new events that I add in Entourage are showing up in
Entourage, but not being synced to Exchange, so they aren't showing up
on my Blackberry, or on other computers whether I use Entourage or
Outlook.

If I add something from Outlook it does show up in Entourage though.

Any thoughts why new items from the Mac side would stop syncing?

Hi Loren!

Your description sounds like you're using Entourage on a couple of Macs
connecting to the same Exchange account. Does this problem happen with
one or all of them?

Is your Exchange Server on your company network or are you using a
hosted Exchange Server? If it's on your company network are you
connecting Entourage to a frond-end (OWA address) or a back-end server
address?

Yes. Entourage at home and work. It happens to one of them. The one
at work. This has happened before and I fixed it by bringing my
"Microsoft User Data" folder from home to the office, but that caused me
to lose all the notes I had at work, so I don't want to do it again.
Also, that's more of a bandaid than a fix. :)

Server is on my company network and it's only one server. OWA running
on the Exchange server.

Thanks for your help,
Loren

Hi Loren!

Are you using your company's OWA address while you're at work? If so,
ask your server admin for the address to your back-end Exchange Server.
That's a much more efficient route to your account than through an OWA
server.

Hope this helps!

The company has just the one Exchange server running OWA. There is no
separate back-end server.

Loren did you find an answer? We have 3 Macs trying to schedule
appointments for 5 oher people. The Macs can schedule appointments and
they do not show up for hours or days. The PCs can see the
appointments and the mac that made the appointment can see it but the
other folks with Macs cannot see the appointment. we end up with folks
double booked because of this problem. I believe we are running the
latest Exchange serve and the newest version of Entourage.
Thanks

No, I am afraid I did not, yet, get a solution. My home Mac works fine.
Anything I create goes straight to the Exchange server and shows up
everywhere.

But, on my office Mac, new calendar events do not go to the Exchange
server. Oddly, new contacts created at work do still go to the Exchange
server.

So, it's not a communications issue. Who knows what. Once I get all my
notes, tasks and projects copied to my home machine, I'll then bring in
that Microsoft Data folder and replace the one at work. It's not a
solution, and it doesn't prevent the problem from happening again
someday, but at least, then, I should be able to add appointments from
work again.

Hi Loren!

If you're able to connect without issues from *outside* your company
network but not *inside* then this tells me you're using your server's
external address. If you're doing that then you could be passing
information through a proxy and/or firewall to get to the Internet and
then be coming back in to your network to connect.

Although you have one server you should have an internal as well as an
external address. Try using the internal address of the server.

Hope this helps!

No, the addresses all work. On my office computer I can access my
Exchange contacts just fine, and I can see all my calendar appointments
that are on the Exchange server. If I add an appointment from outlook
on a PC, my entourage shows the new appointment. But if I add an
appointment from my entourage, it doesn't go to the exchange server. It
only exists on the Mac.

Like I said, this seems to be something wrong with Entourage and my
profile. If I replace my Microsoft User Data folder with the one from
home, it will work, but I'll lose my projects, notes and tasks. I can
try to export and import the notes and tasks, but I am afraid this will
happen again. It has happened before.

Thanks,
Loren

I have the same problem, but the other way round. Appointments added at home
didn´t show up at work, but all appointments added at the office showed up
fine.

My solution was to add a new calendar to Entourage. It has the same path on
(to?) our Exchange server but - magic! - all appointments I add no matter
where get synchronized.

So now my problem is that I would like to get rid of the default calender
and set my new calender as default.

(And I would love to know why the heck this is happening ...)
