SOS. Some events syncing to Exchange, some not.

I have had trouble where my Exchange server, and therefore my
Blackberry, would get multiple copies of appointments, or people's
birthdays would show up across 2 days.

However, everything always looks right in my Entourage.

So, I decided to try to wipe all the date out of the Exchange server let
it start fresh.

In Entourage, I copied all my calendar items to my local calendar, then
deleted everything from the Exchange server.

After the Exchange server calendar was empty (I looked both in Entourage
and Outlook) I recopied everything back to the Exchange server calendar.

But, for some reason, while everything looks good in Entourage, Outlook
only shows about half the calendar events. And only Annual events, like
birthdays. It's not showing any of my scheduled meetings that are in my
Entourage.

If I add a new appointment from Outlook, or my Blackberry, it shows up
in Entourage, but if I add new in my Entourage, nothing...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Loren

Hi Loren!

How are you connecting to your Exchange Server? Are you using the
address of a backend server (internal to your network) or are you using
your external Outlook Web Access (OWA) address?

You might also try creating a new identity using the Switch Identity
command under the Entourage menu and see if a new database will resolve
your problem.

It's an Exchange 2003 server. I access it both at work on the internal
network, and from home. Both configured the same way using the OWA
address. (Which is https, by the way).

My problem with creating a new identity is, the new identity will get
all it's events from the server, which means I will lose all my
categories.

But, I will give it a try and report back.

Thanks.

Hi Loren!

Your reason for not wanting to create a new identity makes perfect
sense. As a means of troubleshooting your problem I think it's worth
trying. If you find that a new identity works correctly then we can
worry about how to migrate your information from one to the other.

Good luck! bill

The new identity did work. So I decided to go mostly clean. with the
following procedure.

1. Copied all the data from my Exchange server (calendar and contacts)
to their local folders.

2. Backed up the Microsoft User Data folder to a zip archive.

3. Did an Entourage export of all but mail.

4. Deleted all the data both locally and from the server.

5. Quit Entourage. Deleted Microsoft User Data. Restarted Entourage.

6. Recreated my account connecting to Exchange server.

7. Restored archive to local folders.

8. Copied data to Exchange server.

That pretty much did it. The calendar events did all lose their
categories, but happily, the contacts did not. I'll need to recreate my
projects, but that's no big deal. All in all, a bit of a pain, but it
seems to be working again.

Although, several of my 1 day events still showed up as 2 days on my
Outlook. Finally found a fix for that. Recurrence was listed, in
outlook, as the following...

"Occurs every April 26 effective 4/26/1970 Eastern Time (US & Canada)."

Simply opening and closing the Occurrence window changes that to:

"Occurs every April 26 effective 4/26/1970."

And then it appears normally in both outlook and entourage.

Very weird.

Thanks for your help.
