Spam Filter combined with Entourage 2004 Filters

I am using Entourage 2004 with the spam filter turned on. I have
multiple email accounts and have set up rules to move all mail that
comes in to specific folders, or at the very least to folders that are
specific for each account, in case the message does not match some
other rule higher up. This way nothing stays in my Inbox, but is
distributed to various other locations to make the huge volume of mail
I get daily more organized.

Here is the problem I currently have. By moving all mail to this
collection of folders, the spam filter does not seem to automatically
kick in. The spam all makes it to the individual boxes, where I have
to manually run the command to apply the spam filter. This is time
consuming, as I have to do this several times a day for each mail
account I have. Is there a way within Entourage to spam filter the
mail *Before* it gets distributed via my custom rule set, or I am
stuck paying for a third party solution like SpamFire? Any help would
be appreciated.

Set all of your rules to have the criterion "message - is not junk". That
way if it IS junk then the message gets left for Entourage to deal with. If
it's not junk your rule will move it to the correct folder.

BTW, I highly recommend turning Entourage's Spamfilter off and installing
POPfile instead...

By default, mail rule actions include an action to 'set category = <none>' -
this will 'de-junk' a message. Make sure you remove those default actions.

I highly recommend you do not listen to Johannes. I find the built-in junk
mail protection to be quite effective.
