Spam filter- Spamfire vs Spamsieve

Looking at these 2 programs for use with Entourage (OS X). I'm trying
Spamfire right now, which is remarkable in simply "eliminating" spam on
entourage. But I've seen other reviews more positive re Spamsieve. I
understand that Spamfire works at the server level (so spam never reaches
email), while Spamsieve works with Entourage. Wondering if anyone out there
has any experience with both that can compare them. Thanks--

Can't answer your question completely since I only know and use Spamsieve. I
can attest though that Spamsieve works great with Entourage POP accounts.
After feeding it with an inital set of spam messages (not hard to collect
these days) it is able to filter out more than 95% of the spam I receive.
(The spam that still makes it to my Inbox is mostly messages with only an
image body and a nonsense subject.) Even more important: the latest version
of Spamsieve uses the address book to avoid good messages being falsely
marked as spam. Since then I hardly find legitimate messages marked as spam
(this may vary if you have many legitimate 'unknown' senders).

The main shortcoming of Spamsieve (actually it is not Spamsieve's fault) is
that it can not move spam messages in IMAP accounts. It can only mark them
'spam' but they're still in the inbox.

On the whole, I am very pleased with Spamsieve. Without it, I think I would
abandon email from my communication channels ;-)
