Specify Exchange server and OWA

I primarily use entourage to connect to the exchange server over the local
network at work. However, when I'm off-site but connected to the internet I
can manually alter the exchange server details in the account settings to
that of my works Outlook Web Access server which allows me to access my
e-mails remotely.
Is there a way to configure the account settings so that both server details
are specified and entourage use the appropriate server depending on which
connection is available?

Many Thanks

Hi Andy!

Often the OWA address will work internally to a company's network. You
can try leaving it as your external address and see if that works. Keep
in mind that you may have slower performance this way depending on how
your work's network is configured.

You could setup two identities; one for direct connection to Exchange
and one for OWA access outside. Then, tell Entourage to prompt which
identity to use when launching. Our network is configured in such a
way that makes connecting to OWA internally kind of slow.

Thanks for the reply - worked a treat - thank you.

Makes sense as I suppose I'm essentially just utilising the internet
connection of the local network to access the OWA.

Other than speed [which didn't seem noticeably slower today] are there any
other general issues about using an OWA connection as opposed to a direct
network connection that I should be aware of?

Hi Andy!

You're really using an OWA connection internally as well with just a
direct address for the server rather than alias. The speed issues I've
seen are caused by what you've found that you're really doing: going
outside to come back inside. But if this isn't noticeable to you then
sounds like a win-win.
