Spell Checker has changed to French in Office/Word 2k

I ran into a problem with Office 2k Standard today and can't seem to
find any solution. I have Google'd and checked MS knowledge base with
no results. The problem is the Spell Checker has changed to using
French instead of English. Nothing has been manually changed, seems
it has converted itself. I have checked all the tool/options and in
the Regional and Language settings and everything looks normal.
Anyone run across this before?

Open the document that has this problem, press Ctrl+A to select all of
the text, and click on Tools | Language | Set Language | <choose your
language> | uncheck the "Do not check spelling or grammar" and "Detect
language automatically" boxes | Default | OK. Then press F7 to rerun
spellcheck.
