spell checking entourage

MSOffice: Mac /Entourage 10.1.4
Spell Check not working -

I can manually run spell check on a new email and it displays a dialog
box saying it has completed - but there is no attempt to correct the
mispellings or to offer choices etc - all the obvious general spelling
preferences have been turned on - there appears to be the custom
dictionary file in the appropriate location and it is selected -
I did go through the install process for Office twice(drag and drop of
folder from install CD and then launch and setup ) - I only trashed
the 1st install Office folder - possibly there was some dislocated
reminant from that 1st attempt that has put the Kabosh on the spell
checker??
What should I do to correct this problem -HELP! I am a horrible
speller and cannot afford the extra time to self check.

Hey- I fixed it !!
I went through this list and tried several of the posted fixesfor the
malfunctioning spell check as described in my original post - none
solved my problem - but creating a new identity as a test did work,
which gave me pause -
what it turned out to be was that I had changed the default fonts in
general prefs. and the one I had chosen for the Plaintext Messages was
one of the fonts on my font list whose name is followed by a CY - I
can only assume not a fixed width font which is specified in that
preference description as (again I assume ) necessary - once I changed
that to a standard mac font (no CY or CE suffix ) it allowed the spell
check to work as it was designed to.

CY fonts are Cyrillic - the alphabet for Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian, etc.
Entourage does not have a Russian spell-checker or Russian proofing tools,
so spell-check is turned off - otherwise every single word would be
underlined. CE fonts are Central European - Hungarian, Czech, Slovak,
Polish, Lithuanian, etc. They use the Latin alphabet but with lots of
accents. Again, Entourage has no proofing tools for these. So don't use CY
or CE fonts except for writing messages in the languages where they apply,
and the spell-checker will not work for them.
