Spotlight and Entourage?

Does anyone know if/when Spotlight will be able to search Entourage
mail as it does Mac Mail? Not very happy with Entourage search advanced
function. It misses messages that I know are there.

Thanks

It's unlikely that anyone will give you a definite date.

Really? Can you give an example? m.

Matt, your reply implies someone is working on getting Spotlight to
work. Or is it just a guess? It would require cracking the MS User
Data, main identity database file, I presume.

As to search problems: Can't give specifics right now, but it happens
on full text. When it happens again I will record the details for you.

Apple have said they will be releasing the APIs to allow third parties to
use spotlight on their own data formats. Until such a time as they do
release those APIs nobody will be able to tell how much work it will take to
implement (IF it turns out to be possible to apply it to the entourage
database).

MacBU are not stupid - they know this will be on the wish-list for their
customers. Only they can decide on how important it is, how much time/money
it will cost, whether it is worth it and how long it will take.

I would be interested to see details as well. Are you talking about false
negatives or false positives? I have never come across failed searches that
did not turn out to be the fault of my own logic. I would suspect that
proven failure will most likely turn out to be due to database corruption,
but I'm willing to look at any evidence to the contrary.

I bet they are not stupid either. And I'd further bet that they would roll
that feature into a paid upgrade in Office 2006 or something, if it ever
comes to that. ;)

My reply implies no such thing. It says what it says ("It's unlikely
that anyone will give you a definite date") and that's all it says. If
it implies anything it implies you should stop asking this kind of
question because you're not going to get a useful answer. m.
