SQL Server Service Manager

I have updated Outlook 2003 (using Windows XP) with Business Contact
Manager. In the process it installed an SQL Server Service Manager. I don't
use a server, so there is simply an icon on the taskbar. Moving the cursor
over it it say "Not Connected - \\". Since installing that update, I have a
problem connecting to the server (with Front Page) that hosts my website. I
suspect that it is linked to this installed SQL Server Service Manager. My
questions:
1. Do I actually need the "SQL Server Service Manager" to run Outlook with
the Business Contact Manager (I didn't before).
2. Can I disable or remove this SQL Server Service Manager?

Apologies if the question is dumb, obvious or complicated. I appreciate
help.....

Have a great weekend, Richard

I have run FP2003 with that icon in the taskbar, and the SQL Server
disabled, with no problems.
What errors do you see when you attempt to connect with FP?

For your Outlook BCM question, I suggest asking in an Outlook newsgroup.

the background. Its a named instance so Service Manager does not
connect to it automatically. I moved mine from the original
installation so I don't know the actual name of the SQL instance for
you. All I can tell you is that the database is called
MSBusinessContactManager.

Richard,
I have the same question you do. I have posted the question and gotten
nowhere with this discussion group other than it points to BCM which you and
I both acknowledged in our original questions. If you get a real answer let
me know, and I'll do likewise.

The correct newsgroup for this query is at
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlook.bcm
(opens in Outlook express.)

This question has nothing to do with FrontPage

Richard,
Got to Start/Programs-Startup and delete SQL Server Service Manager. It
won't load the next time you re-boot.
........and the question is answered!
