Stopping slideshow mode when served from URL

How do I stop my powerpoint .ppt files from opening in Slideshow mode when
downloaded from a website? In win95/98 you could force .ppt to open outside
of IE, but in Win2k,XP there is no way I can find to stop this behavior.
Users are always wanting to print from the web, but there is not even a Print
option in the context menu for the pps.
