Strange formatting when cross referencing

When I add a cross reference to a Paragraph/Heading there seems to be an unavoidable increase in line spacing for the line on which the cross reference text occurs. This does not happen with other cross references (eg Tables/Figure or even when crossreferencing to paragraph/heading text) - this leads to some weird looking docs and is very annoying!

Pleasew help!
