Strange message in Calendar

Hello,

New Entourage user here. I have Entourage 2004 + SP2 installed on a Mac Mini
with the latest Tiger update.

Every time I insert an event in the Calendar, I get the following message:
"Event and computer time zones do not match. In Calendar views, the event
time is adjusted to display correctly.". And the time of the event in the
Calendar view is hour+1, where hour is the hour at which I've set my event.

Any idea how can I solve this problem?

Thanks!

Regards,
Stelian

I am sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. English is not my mother
tongue, so can you please explain?

It happens with all the events, no matter what is the time when I set them.

Sorry. A quick web check says that the US switches off Daylight Saving
Time on October 30th, I think. So the time zone I am in right now is
Pacific Daylight Time--any of my events that happen after October 30th will
be in Pacific Standard Time, a different time zone. My theory *was* that
Entourage was simply warning you about this, and that once your time zone
had changed, it would sort itself out. (with appropriate changes for
whatever time zone you are in, I think the EU changes on different dates)

BUT, then I tested it by creating an event after October 30th and got no
warning, so apparently that is *not* the problem. Nevertheless, time zones
are still at the heart of the issue, so here's a previous message I found
from Barry Wainwright (quoting):
_____

Time zone confusion comes up quite often on the newsgroups & mailing lists.
Lots of people scream that something is broken and it 'doesn't work, no
matter what they do', but invariably when they follow these simple steps
the problem goes away.

1.  Go to System Preferences and choose the 'Date & Time' Module. Click on
the Time Zone tab. Click on the map at your approximate location and select
the appropriate 'closest city' from the pop-up list (Note - UK Users do NOT
select GMT as the time zone, select 'London', which will properly account
for BST).

2.  Go to Entourage General Preferences, and select the Calendar tab. In the
'Default Time Zone for New Events' pop-up, select the appropriate time zone
(note for UK users - here the correct time zone IS GMT - MS have confused
things with their labelling).

3.  Now, quit & restart Entourage. You need to do this for the system time
zone to register correctly. It only seems to do this on start-up.

Hope that helps,
Daiya

Well, I did what Mr. Wainwright suggested and it's still the same.

So in System Preferences I have the time zone set to Bucharest (I am from
Romania). Then, in Entourage, it is also set to Bucharest. I have quitted
and restarted Entourage and the same thing happens. I set up an event at 9
PM, in the Calendar view appears at 10 PM. If I open the event, I can see
it's at 9 PM. So maybe it's a problem with the Calendar views?

Mr. Wainwright's suggestions will only work for new calendar events if the
problem was that the "Default Time Zone for New Events" popup was set to the
wrong time. Every event keeps its own time zone in itself. If you open up
this event, what time zone does it show as selected under Options
(button)/Timezones? Is it also Bucharest?

The Timezones file in Microsoft Office 2004/Office is a VCALENDAR-formatted
text file that describes the various time zones that Entourage will know
about. Bucharest is set up for UTC+2 (standard) and UTC+3 (daylight), and is
set to switch on the first Sunday of April and the last Sunday of October at
2 am. This seems to conform to the Easturn Europe (Summer) Time time zone.

When I choose Bucharest in the System Preferences/Date & Time/Time Zone, it
says EEST, so that seems like it would be in line.

Well, I took your advice and searched the archives but, unfortunately, I
couldn't find anything to help solving this problem.

So if anybody else has any ideas, I'll greatly appreciate them!

Thanks!

Hello Nathan, please see my comments inside.

Mr. Wainwright's suggestions will only work for new calendar events if the
problem was that the "Default Time Zone for New Events" popup was set to the
wrong time. Every event keeps its own time zone in itself. If you open up
this event, what time zone does it show as selected under Options

Yes, it is also Bucharest.
The Timezones file in Microsoft Office 2004/Office is a VCALENDAR-formatted
text file that describes the various time zones that Entourage will know
about. Bucharest is set up for UTC+2 (standard) and UTC+3 (daylight), and is

To me also, it's the same, EEST.

So let me get this clear. The Timezone of the computer is set to Bucharest
(EEST). The Timezone of Entourage is also Bucharest and the Timezone of the
event is also Bucharest. So then, where is the problem?
