I started this thread on Jan 16 2004 and one reply came in but there's
no way for me to reply to that reply so I'm starting a new thread
about the same issue...
Thank you Tim for your reply. Believe it or not it is happening from
legitimate emailers, namely my daughter and her AOL account.
It HAS to be something within the Entourage program, I know that now
because of the email that came from her with the text in the "to"
address...
"(e-mail address removed)" <[email protected]>
And my daughter is 12 and her computer is in the kitchen so again, I
know that it's happening with legitimate email.
Yes I agree that spammers do that and that the address could be sold
over and over again but that still doesn't explain how it happened
with the email from my daughter.
Also, in response to this:
Ah well, that didn't occur to me but I'm so spammed out as it is I
don't even worry about it anymore. I just mass delete, yes it takes a
lot of time but my name and address were on a LOT of spammers email
lists before this...
Thank you for your help, I hope someone can come up with a reason as
to why this is happening...
Have a terrific day!
Diane

Hi!
My email address is (e-mail address removed). For some reason,
some email I receive has this in the "to" address:
"(e-mail address removed)" <[email protected]>
Does anybody have any idea why this would happen and how I can make it
stop happening? It's happening in both legit email and non-legit
email (spam) but not in all emails I receive, only in some of them.
Any ideas?
Thank you very much!!
Diane

I can't see why this would appear in legit e-mails, but it's a
technique
used by spammers. And, in posting your e-mail to this newsgroup, you
have
just opened up yourself to a new pile of spam from spammers who
"harvest"
addresses from newsgroups.
no way for me to reply to that reply so I'm starting a new thread
