Strange "to" addresses in email I'm receiving...

Hi!

My email address is (e-mail address removed). For some reason,
some email I receive has this in the "to" address:

"(e-mail address removed)" <[email protected]>

Does anybody have any idea why this would happen and how I can make it
stop happening? It's happening in both legit email and non-legit
email (spam) but not in all emails I receive, only in some of them.

Any ideas?

I can't see why this would appear in legit e-mails, but it's a technique
used by spammers. And, in posting your e-mail to this newsgroup, you have
just opened up yourself to a new pile of spam from spammers who "harvest"
addresses from newsgroups.
