Styles not in alpha sequence??

I created a new template for a client with lots of new styles. However, after creating a new doc based on this template, the styles in the dropdown menu are in no particular order. For instance, BodyText is way down the list. There must be some way of specifying that you want the list in alpha sequence, but I am darned if I can see how. Can anyone help, please (this is WORD97).

In Word 97, user-defined styles are listed after Word's built-in styles. A
terrible design idea that was corrected in Word 2000.
