subform based upon listbox based upon listbox

Hi,
Can somebody please explain:
I have a form with 1 subform and 2 listboxes.
Upon opening the form I want to pick a vlaue in listbox 1. Based upon this
value I get values in listbox 2, again I pick a value and based upon this
value records are displayed in my subform.
This puzzles me so I can't make it work.
Can somebody please explain? (maybe with an example)
