Subject.eml Folders Are Appearing

I'm on Entourage version 12.1.2, OSX version 12.5.5 and I've started to have
messages (inbound and outbound) appear as an empty folder with the name
subject.emal; i.e., if the subject was "Today's Schedule" an empty folder
will appear named "Today's Schedule.eml". I've run the database
repair/rebuild utility and it says that is fine. I've seen the same issue on
a few blogs but I've never seen a way to fix it. Any ideas?

By the way, this only happens with my sync'd Exchange objects, not POP or
IMAP accounts.

More information on the eml folder creation.

Similar to the thread "eml file created when filing emails in Entourage"
subject.eml files started to appear again after moving Exchange folders on
my Entourage client. I've moved folders before without creating the
subject.eml folder problem.

The larger issue is that this is a cascading, irrecoverable failure. The
Exchange server thinks there are no messages (remember, the messages are
empty .eml folders on the Entourage client). This can also happen to contact
and calendar objects where they become contactname.eml or calendarevent.eml
empty folders and no longer appear on the Exchange server.

Reverting back to a prior, valid, Entourage client version (I back up
hourly) doesn't work because the server has the latest information and
overwrites the older backup copy of the Entourage client once again deleting
all information.

The final straw is that this failure cascades to my iphone since it sync's
with Exchange.

A complete loss of all data on all three platforms: Entourage, Exchange and
iPhone.

The only "recovery" is to completely delete the Entourage client database
and restore contacts from an exported Excel file. Emails and calendar
objects are gone for good.

Any help would be appreciated.
