Subject field has disappeared from Message form

I did something to cause the Message form to suppress display of the
Subject, CC and BCC fields. Only "To..." displays. How can I get these other
fields to reappear?

Go into View, Current View, Customize Current View, click on the Fields
button, and add the fields back from there.

That didn't work. What worked was, going to View (from the Message form
window's menu) ->Message Header.
