SubReport: Columns?

Got a report that includes a subreport.

When I set the subreport's columns = 7 and open it by itself, it
renders as expected: 7 columns.

But when I open the parent report that includes the subreport, the
subreport only renders 1 column.

After opening/closing, if I go back to the subreport in Design mode,
it is still set to 7 columns and renders as expected whe opened solo.

Seems to me like I've done the report/subreport with columns thing
sucessfully in the past. Or am I just wishing?

You didn't mention whether the "1 column" is a full width one vs. a skinny
1/7th width one.

I'm not expert on this but a few ideas:

Make sure it fits in the box that you made for it in the main report. Funny
things can happen when it doesn't fit. DOn't forget that the "subreport" box
is a different object than the (sub)report that you put into it.

Make sure that you are actually missing columns vs. reducing it to 1 column
by missing (less) data. The latter can be due to some other issue.

Subreports with columns have to use Across, Then Down snaking rather than
Down, Then Across since the subreport has no concept of where pages for the
main report end.

Bingo!!!!!!!

I never, *ever* would have found that one.

Many thanks.
