Subtotalling

I have a report that I would like to subtotal the dollar amount in column C
based on the information in columns A and B.

If column A has "4-$" or "CNO-$" and "GESA CK" in column B, I would like to
add a space at the end of that sort and total the dollar amount in column C.
Then after that information if colunn A has "GESA CK Only" in column A and
"GESA CK" in column B, total only their sums at the bottom of their list. Is
this even possible or would I need to put these on separate sheets? Thanks
for your help.

Two possible ways to go about this.

One is to add subototals using Data->Subtotal. Before you do this you need
to sort your data by columns A and then B. Now hit Data->Subtotal and select
the criteria (column A)for your subtotals. Hit Data->Subototals once more and
this time deselect (remove previous subtotals). And select your next Criteria
(column b).

The second way (my personal favourite) is to use a pivot table. Select the
data range for the subtotaling and then hit Data-> Pivot table. follow the
wizard. Place your A column member and B column memebers in the left hand
column and then place your amounts in the center section. you can move things
around and filter in more ways than you can count.

HI Jim, thanks for this advice, but it won't work for me. I need to do this
with code and have the result display on the sheet. Can this even be done.
I should have specified the code the first time around, sorry.

Yes it can be done but it's a pile of work... I would give you a hand but I
am off home now... if no one else gets back to you re-post tomorrow I might
be able to look at it then.
