Sudden text delete or cursur repositioning while composing e-mail?

[relatively new XL home edition user]

I have a lap top with XL home edition. How can I keep cursor from suddenly
repositioning to an earlier text point or sudden erasing whole portions of
documents when I'm composing (typing) them for eventual e-mail? Jim

Keep your thumbs away from the touchpad below the spacebar! If your
laptop has a utility to reduce the touchpad's sensitivity, or if you
can disable it and use a mouse plugged into the port, that may help.
