Switching email accounts closes other MS apps

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: imap

When I switch from different email accounts, it forces me to close all the MS applications I'm using. For example if I want to switch from email account A to email account B, I can't do so without closing my Excel sheet that I'm working on. How can I make it so I don't have to close my other MS apps when I switch users. Thanks in advance.

You are switching Identities. There is no way to change this behavior.
You can have multiple accounts in one Identity. This is the correct way to
use Entourage.
