It should be possible if you disable Notifications in Entourage (I never
tried though),

I tried and still cannot get it to work. I have turned off notifications on
both users but still have to exit all office apps and messenger (N/A) to
switch.
I¹ll keep looking but any ideas I¹d appreciate.

With notifications turned off, can you launch Activity Monitor and check
whether the Database Daemon is still runing??

Do you use anything like DragThing (which queries the database on a
regular basis to check if there is a new message and display the number
on a badge on it's toolbars)

No, Corentin, it isn't.

Word & Excel (& PPT & Messenger) all access the same database for name
autocompletion and a few other functions. You can't change the identity
9based on the database) without quitting all office apps as they all need ot
access the same database.

The database daemon is launched by _any_ office application. If you
force-quit the daemon, word will hang or crash.
