Switching to MIME format

When receiving excel attachments in MIME format, they
arrive as garbage. I can not find any reference to MIME
in outlook 2002. Is there a work around?

MIME is converted to MAPI's binary storage. Out of curiosity, does content
type in the internet header show user defined? If yes, it might be a known
problem that has plagued earlier versions of Outlook. The only solution is
to ask the sender to switch their encoding type away from user defined.

Is there a way to set outgoing message to never send as
(disable) user defined?

To never or block... no. However I have never seen Microsoft Exchange
Server, Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express get set to this w/out some
type of user interaction. (For example in Microsoft Outlook, you can set it
globally for messages you send by selecting Tools | Options | Mail Format |
International Options)
