Sync Dialogue: Entourage would like to sync Calendars with iCaland other applications

Hi,

New to group so excuse me if I have missed some protocol....

I am using Entourage's Sync feature to synchronise to iCal/Address Book and,
in turn, my mobile phone (SE K800i). This works OK, and I am using Blue
Phone Elite to trigger sync sessions when phone comes in to range.

However, I seem to randomly get a dialogue box popping up saying, "Entourage
would like to sync Calendars with iCal and other applications" which
requires my response each time.

Does anyone else get this box each time? I would have thought it should have
only required my preference to be set the first time? Does anyone know if it
can be disabled/automated?

Isn't it a setting in iSync?? Every time an app modifies more than xxx%
of the data, you get a warning??

You can probably change that percentage though,

I used to get it all the time too. If I left iSync open, it would pop
up every half minute or so. That was with calendar sync only. When I
also clicked the "synchronize contacts" box in the entourage
preferences, the alert went away. If you don't have both options
checked, try it. Otherwise, you may want to switch sync off and then on
again.

Thanks for the response.

I hadn't had the "Sync Contacts" option checked (only notes & calendar) as I
didn't want a load of email only contact turning up in Address Book and
hence my phone. But having sanitised Entourage's addresses a little I have
turned it on and (so far) no unnecessary dialogues.

Phone:

If you have Tiger, Entourage 2004 will now sync to the same database the
System Address Book and iCal use. Therefore, if you sync your phone through
iSync, it should sync with that common database now.

Just make sure you set the preferences in Entourage to sync to SyncServices.

Generally, as Entourage hooks into iSync, any device listed on the following
