Hi Israel!

You're telling us you're having a problem syncing but you're not telling
us what is happening. If you can provide details of what you're seeing,
error messages that your receiving and what you've tried then someone
may be able to give some advice.

This won't meet your immediate needs but MarkSpace is planning to
support your model of Smartphone
<http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_symbian.php>. You'll most likely
need some sort of third party application such as this to sync your Mac
and Nokia phone.

Hope this helps!

I am new to MAC. I just got my computer and my phone connected right away to
the computer (I have Leopard) and synchronized with Cal and Mail using the
iSync program. I then loaded my Office 2004 and I started to have error
messages saying the sync was cancelled. It told me: Database reset Alert.
Inconsistencies in your sync information for Contacts and Calendars were
detected and have been repaired. The next sync for iSync, Entourage, E61,
Address Book and Ical may take longer then usual.
Next time it starts syncing and then stops and says it was cancelled and the
whole process repeats itself. I tried resetting all devices but nothing
changes.
Just to say that I also deleted all the info from iCal and Address Book
thinking that it may be the problem. I also re-installed the whole system
hoping it would solve the problem and it did not. I am sure that somewhere
there is a file that needs to be accessed and changed to allow Syncing as if
it is the first time...
Thanks!

Hi Israel!

First, welcome to the Mac ( lower case ;-) )! I hope once you get your
transition problems resolved that it will serve you well.

If you haven't already, make sure all your software is up-to-date. For
Leopard you'll select Software Update... from the Apple menu and for
Office select Check for Updates from the Help menu in any Office
application.

Next, syncing on a Mac (or any platform) is great when it works but can
be baffling to troubleshoot, so please be patient. I made a blog post a
few months ago that explains how syncing works on a Mac and you may find
it useful to understand what's happening behind the scenes
<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/07/why_does_the_syncing_play_goss.html>.

Here's what I suggest you do (I hope this eliminates the error message
you're seeing):

1. In Entourage go to Entourage menu --> Preferences --> Sync Services
and DISable all syncing.

2. If you have a .Mac account then select Apple menu --> System
Preferences... --> .Mac --> Sync. DISable all syncing here as well.

3. Open the iSync application, which you'll find in the Applications
folder. From the iSync menu select Preferences... and click the Reset
Sync History button.

4. I have personally found that having one place to enter all my data
and then syncing everything else works best. Making a change to a
contact in Entourage and Address Book and on your phone can lead to
duplicate entries. Rarely will syncing delete information.

So, I suggest that you start with Entourage and always add/modify
contacts here. Enter your contact information (you can import it if you
have a text file with your contacts) and get each entry just as you'd like.

5. Now, return to Entourage's Preferences --> Sync Services and ENable
what you want to sync. Be sure to select the correct calendar and
address book. When you click the OK button you'll be prompted to select
one of three options. Select the last option and have Entourage
overwrite everything in Address Book. You'll later have iSync overwrite
everything on your phone as well.

6. If you have a .Mac account then return to System Preferences... -->
..Mac --> Sync and ENable syncing there as well.

7. Open Address Book and iCal and verify that your information has been
synced properly. These can be open during syncing and you will see your
information flow into them.

8. Finally, sync your phone and, if necessary, overwrite your phone's
information with your Mac's information.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
I may try that... But what I have done is create a new identity on the Mac
;-) syncing my phone there, setting up entourage to sync and everything
works on the new identity. I then transfer everything to the new identity
and after I will make sure that all things work as they should, I will
delete the old Identity. It has taken care of the sync problem, now lets see
I get through running Parallels and other staff...
Thanks!
