I can create a group to sync to a cell phone, but cannot add individual
contacts to the group if they lack an email address. Has anyone else found
that to be the case? The problem is using MarkSpace, I don't want to sync
my entire database to the Palm, just my regularly called numbers, so it
requires me to select only ONE group for syncing...

Hi jefferis!

Groups are for sending E-mail to multiple addresses. You can not add a
contact to a group without an E-mail address. That's the way the feature
is designed. Why else would you create a group?

I'm not familiar with how MarkSpace works but if it can take advantage
of categories then you can assign your contacts the same category and
sync that instead. Or look for other ways of select your contacts.

This question may be better addressed if you ask in the MarkSpace forums
<http://forums.markspace.com/>.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. I guess my confusion was Categories vs Groups. Markspace uses
conduits provided by apps. Address Book uses Groups to sync and Entourage
uses Categories. The only problem for the latter is that it only allows one
category to sync, so if you have family and regular numbers but want to keep
some for occasional use, and not fill up your screen, you cannot divide the
numbers into smaller groups. Whereas with Address book's groups, you can add
up to 4 groups and they stay divided on the Palm... Then you only need to
use one group as your main phonebook...

I would just use Apple's Address Book to sync to your cell phone. I use
Apple Mail's stationary for sending out birthday and holiday emails.

That's what I'm doing. Just noticing that I cannot now sync Entourage ad
Address book as I used to. I was using Entourage as the default that
over-rode Address book. Now I need to use merge. Not sure what that will do
with the odd groups, but I did notice that while individual contacts update,
groups don't sync.

I would create a new User in System Preferences. Set up the Apple Address
Book there with your contacts and sync with your phone in the new User. This
way Entourage can sync with your regular user's Apple Address Book.
