Sync multiple iCal calendars to Entourage

Andy Black

Hi,

Yesterday I downloaded the latest Office update and was trying out the
new Sync Services and noticed that my iCal calendars do not sync to
Entourage. The only one that seems to sync is a calendar that was
created automatically in iCal called "Entourage". Is there a way to get
all of my iCal calendars to sync with Entourage WITHOUT moving all my
iCal events and tasks into the "Entourage" calendar in iCal?

Thanks,

Andy

No.

Entourage supports multiple calendars and multiple categories. iCal only
supports multiple calendars and has no equivalent for categories at this
point. Entourage only syncs *one* calendar and matches it one-to-one to a
calendar in iCal (called Entourage). In order to see events created in iCal
in Entourage, you'll have to assign these iCal events to the "Entourage"
calendar that shows up in iCal itself.

That's not completely true. Other sync tools, e.g. e2Sync, sync an event's
primary category and iCal Calendars. the problem with e2Sync is it's very
flaky.

Paul Berkowitz has a pair of Applescripts that sync address book and
iCal to Entourage, and do a great job of syncing in the way that you
would expect. Contact categories are sync'd with Address Book groups
and event categories are each sync'd to a different iCal calendar. I
have found that the address book script is a bit finicky (I 'm
constantly running into problems with it unexpectedly quitting due to
what Paul calls database corruption that doesn't seem to manifest
itself in any other way), but the iCal script has been pretty rock
solid.

You can find both by searching www.macupdate.com or www.versiontracker.com.

Hope that helps!
